What’s Hot in Women’s Fragrances

Across the US the UK, and the world for that matter, Sarah Jessica Parker and her gregariously sexy best friends in Manhattan have made an indelible impression on the fashion world, unquestionably in the shoe department, but not just for vintage Manolo Blahniks. And whilst we may not be able to get a whiff of their seductive fragrances from off the silver screen, or while having a laugh at the antics of Sex and The City episodes (even reruns), we can imagine how Carrie Bradshaw might… ummmm… smell, especially since off-screen Sarah Jessica Parker has created her second fragrance: Covet. It’s not surprising to find that it’s a seductive scent, a perfume that’s feminine-floral with a hint of wooded freshness. And now for just under £15, a 100ml eau de perfume spray is available in the UK – for fans of sassy, savvy and sexy Miss Bradshaw or for those who appreciate the real life actress and her exquisite good taste in all things “fabulous” – fashion, footwear and fragrance. Buy through Fragrance Direct and it  will be delivered to you through Royal Mail for just £1.95.

The Classics Like Jean Paul Gaultier

New York sexy may be hot all around the world, but the classics are forever alluring, and Jean Paul Gaultier’s line of designer fragrance will never go out of style. The latest release of “Classique”, the edition for summer 2010, is still presented in the alluring shape of a woman, just that the lady is wrapped in strappy red sashes this year, and inside the Gaultier women smells of fresh summer citrus – of lemons and orange blossoms, with jasmine and the clean white bouquet we all know and love – lily of the valley. The newest 100ml size eau de toilet costs just over £32 when purchased from Fragrance Direct, the discount fragrance outlet which delivers throughout the UK.

Cheap Fragrances For Sporty Gals

Fragrance Direct also has scents for the ladies who prefer Nikes to heels, and may opt for freshness instead of heavy floral bouquets, the latest True Star Gold, designed by Tommy Hilfiger, offers the light aroma of kiwi, melon and agava with just of honey and juniper sweetness. But perhaps the best part is that a splash of Hilfiger isn’t expensive, in fact it’s really affordable: a 30 ml spray, ideal for carrying in a gym bag or fanny pouch, costs just under £10 (when purchased through the online discount perfume house called Fragrance Direct).

Slightly more expensive, but still very affordable, is the Van Cleef and Arpels eau de toilet spray, which is recommended for those women who appreciate a clean breezy aroma. Although it’s created with a rich base of musk, the freshness of the scent called First Premier Bouquet  is derived from a blend of bergamot and grapefruit with a hint of sweat pea, jasmine and rose. And how much does a spray of Van Cleef and Arpels freshness cost? 100 ml for just under £20! If you prefer a little magic, there’s also Fairy perfume, delicate as the Van Cleef and Arpels jewelry collections. By the way, for really good prices and lots of discounts onsets, try shopping for the latest perfumes, body lotions and gels through Fragrance Direct and get deals that start at around £5.

Creed Perfume – The Ultimate in Designer Fragrances

Creed fragrances were designed for royalty; no, not figuratively speaking, but for real queens and kings. The house of Creed opened in London in 1760 under James Henry Creed, and was appointed by Queen Victoria as the official “royal household perfume supplier”. Creed’s allure spread throughout the royal courts of Europe, from France to Austria, Hungary and even enticed the Spanish Queen, Christina. However, the French aristocracy, being amongst those who had a large budgets to buy fragrance, became one of the reasons for Creed to transfer its headquarters from London to Paris in 1854.

Still A Family Company

What remains unusual about Creed fragrances is that the family never sold out to a large perfume manufacturer or cosmetics house, but, to this day, remains a family run business, headed by the son and grandson of the founder— Olivier Creed and his son Erwin. While the principals of the perfume company have not changed, their essential fragrance oils are sought from around the world. For example their rose essence comes from places like Morocco and Turkey and their jasmine is brought from Italy, while special violet essences are bought in India. What this means is that their fragrances are crafted from natural essential oils and not from synthetic products that may be cheaper. This accounts for the fact that they are not amongst the world’s cheap fragrances, but amongst the best, and often the most expensive.

The Cost Of Royal Creed Scents

Today, many discerning ladies are (not surprisingly) happy to pay a little more for quality; for natural oils extracted from exotic flowers, mixed, measured and filtered by hand, and sold at exclusive boutiques. Now, Creed fragrance is available online, even the exclusive Acqua Fiorentina, inspired by Renaissance Florence, scented with Florentine plums and roses, accented with bergamot and lemon, then blended in a base of cedar and sandalwood. A 75 ml spray bottle, beautifully packaged in their traditional triangular shaped, soft pink Creed bottle, costs around £133. Most of the Creed line is about the same price range: from £123 to £133. The exception is: Fleur de The Rose Bulgare, which is a combination of international scents like Bulgarian roses, Chinese green tea flowers, Italian lemons and Spanish Bergamot, and costs just over £270 for a splash.

What’s New At Creed

The newest Creed fragrance for ladies is the Sublime Vanille – a blend of Tahitian orchid vanilla and Bourbon vanilla from South America. It’s available at the New York boutique or online for about $550 for 8.4 ounces (250ml).  Aside from Creed perfume, there’s also a new line of  hair and body wash to match the Himalayan scents for men as well as some new shaving soaps and bowls, for gentlemen.

By the way, just in case you didn’t happen to be one of the supermodels that participated in New York’s Fashion Week 2010, and you were not one of lucky few who received a complimentary set of Creed perfumes (which were Love In White, Love In Black, and Acqua Fiorentina), and you wish to try them out (and you live in New York instead of London or Paris), then drop by their newest boutique located on the corner of Madison Avenue and 67th Street. Unfortunately, Fragrance Direct does not carry the Creed fragrance line, in fact it seems that Creed fragrance boutiques handle all their own sales personally.
